This girl had a rather large family. She happened to be the youngest of the bunch in the bananas. Her siblings thought that she was rather spoiled, but that is just because her siblings did not depend on their parents while their youngest sister was growing up.
Everyone wanted to be this girls friend. At school she was never alone; at home she always had someone calling her; at church everyone wanted to sing next to her.
You may think that this is the ideal life, but she felt otherwise. She felt that even though she was surrounded by a sea of people, she was walking down the pier all alone.
The girl just kept living her life, not doing anything about feeling alone. She just figured that one day she would feel better. One day while she was eating lunch surrounded by the sea of people, she noticed a new boy. He was sitting alone. His face showed everything that she felt on the inside. Her heart ached for this boy.
That day she didn't do anything. She watched him through all of lunch and even followed him to class. She was so fascinated by him.
The next day she took action. During the middle of her friend complaining about something pointless, she stood up to walk over to this fascinating boy. He looked astonished. She was, after all, the fairest maiden in all the land. Everyone in the lunchroom watched as she sat down and introduced herself.
They made an immediate connection that made the whole room brighten like the sun first peeking up in the morning.

She welcomed this new, intriguing boy to the school and invited him to sit with her at lunch. He did.
They became the best of friends. No one could separate them. She was the caramel and he was the apple. They supported every school event together. When Christmas rolled around, they made Christmas gifts together. If they were super bored, they would call each other just to talk about nothing.
The biggest dance of the year was approaching. Everyone knew that she would get a date, but who was going to get to her first?
Obviously, her best friend was the first one to ask her. They were both thrilled. He would never admit to it, but he jumped up and down for days when he was alone.
The day of the dance finally arrived. She wore an elegant green ballgown. He picked his green tie to match her dress perfectly. He picked her up in a horse-drawn carriage. She felt beautiful and whole. Any loneliness that had still existed vanished from her mind.
It was the most perfect date in the history of dates. He twirled her all around the dance floor. Her eyes sparkled exactly like her shoes. He couldn't help but think of how lucky he was to have her as his best friend. She couldn't help but think how lucky she was to be dancing with her best friend.
They rode home in the carriage, laughing about all the fun they had together. When they arrived back at her house, he helped her out of the carriage, took her arm, and walked her to the front door.

They said "goodnight" and embraced in a warm, friendly embrace.
They remained best friends for the rest of their lives. Some people mistook them for twins, others for a couple. The truth remained as best friends.
The end.
Kind of.

Well, if the dress is green, then I definitely know who this girl is. :)
I love happy endings. However, I wonder about this banana's sisters. Maybe they didn't really think this fair maiden was spoiled. And it is possible that her fair sisters depended on the parents more than it seemed. Maybe they had, I don't know, their own horses get around on, and were able to make some money, but maybe at least one of them didn't have the good fortune of finding a bosom friend like Anne of Green Gables and this fair maiden in your story. I have heard some fair maiden's sisters had only their family to make them feel unlonely. However, I have also heard that fair maidens tend to be good friends to their friendless sisters. I don't know, I guess I was just wondering about some other details of the story :)
